I want to buy new i3 8100 CPU but would like to know if it has "vmx unrestricted guest" feature
Could not find the info about this
You may want to look here:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/core/8th-gen-processor-family-s-platform-datashee... 8th Gen (S-platform) Intel® Processor Family Datasheet Vol.1
Not much about it, but some information on vmx.
One of the Intel support staff will have to provide more information.
In the meantime, I have moved your post to the processors forum where you will get better visibility.
Thank you for joining the community.
To better assist, you may I have a description of what you want to accomplish with the use of the processor and the use of VMX unrestricted guest?
Most likely is for a virtualization environment am I thinking on the right path?
I want to install vmware and inside the box install http://www.eve-ng.net/ Eve-NG simulator
When I tried to use it on older intel CPU like i7 870 I got this error
I tired to install it on a laptop with i5 7300hq and it worked fine i just enabled virtualization feature in bios and that's it
On this i7 870 i tried everything but it simply does not work
Thank you for your response.
Let me share with you a chart with the comparison of the three processors that you mentioned on this thread:
The main difference between the 2 newer processor and the older one despite the manufacturing lithography is the Instructions Set included. For instance, the older processor does not have Intel® SSE4.1 and AVX2 Instructions set.
Regarding your main question as per the technology incorporated in the Intel® Core™ I3-8100, I'll say that it should work just fine with the application you want to use. However, my suggestion is to check with the Eve-ng provider to make sure that it accomplishes all their requirements.
Please talk to them and let us know.
