Dual Intel Xeon E5-2630 v2 @ 2.60ghz with boot problems and math fail.

I have a system with 2x Intel Xeon E5-2630 v2 @ 2.60ghz processors, and have recently experienced a lot of problems with booting up the system.

I have downloaded, installed, ran and then uninstalled, re-downloaded, re-installed and re-run the Processor Diganostic tool and all points pass EXCEPT for Math which fails for both processors. See the full diagnostic report below and attached file.

The machine operates seemingly normal once it boots, but requires 2 - 3 attempts to boot and is very unpredictable in its power up sequence.

Is there a fix for this or do I need to replace my CPUs?

Here is a snippet of the error message:

Hello HJens2, In order to better assist you please help us providing more additional information: Are you getting an error message during the boot process? What is the model of your server board? Please provide more information in regards your system configuration(memory part number, video card, etc) What troubleshooting steps have you tried in order to fix this issue? Have you tried testing different components? What operating system are you running? Best regards, Sergio S. Hello,

Thanks for the reply.

I get no error messages in Bios or OS during boot up, but the Qcode display on my motherboard gives a error code 55 - which translates to "cpu error."

My board is an Asus Z9 PE-D8 WS, and I am running Windows 10 in the latest update of 1809.

I have 48gb of installed memory, Kingston.... however, I discovered just now that when trying to lookup memory information in task manager - performance, the system registers the correct amount of memory, but is unable to determine speed and type, could this be memory related instead of CPU related problem?

Originally, my system had two installed video cards, a EVGA Hybrid GeForce 1080Ti and one PNY Quadro K4000, however, if both cards are present, the system does not boot, if either one is present it boots, albeit still with the symptoms as above. The video cards was installed so that one card was connected to CPU1 and the other to CPU2, as per instructions from the motherboard manual.

I have tried testing different video cards and get the same result, I have aquired a new (old) set of CPUs and will test this when they arrive.

Hello HJens2, We appreciate your reply, in order to determine that the issue is related with the processor, you can test your system with different memory, additionally, you can test your system with one memory module at the time and check if you still get the same error message. Please let us know if you are still getting the same error with new processor. Best regards, Sergio S. Intel Customer Support Technician Under Contract to Intel Corporation
