tengo una placa MSI X79A-GD45 8D socket intel 2011 R (FCLGA2011) y he comprado un procesador intel xeon e5-1607 3.o GHz, quisiera saber si este procesador que si es util para el socket de mi placa es o no compatible con el chipset x79, ya que también funciona con memoria RAM DDR3 como el i7 3820 que llevaba y se me ha estropeado.

You need to ask MSI what processors are compatible with THEIR BIOS. Then, you can select from those processors.

As Al Hill mentioned previously, it is necessary to confirm with MSI* if the Intel® Xeon® E5-1607 is supported by MSI X79A-GD45 8D.
I am sending you the list of compatible processors for the MSI X79A-GD45 8D. The E5-1607 is not shown as supported.
