Fake i9 14900k?

This was ordered from Amazon.  It not only came used (thermal paste on top), but also doesn't appear legitimate.  Can anyone confirm if this is a genuine i9?

Using the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool which can be downloaded from here  will show whether it is genuine or not. Be aware that this will run a stress test on the processor from the outset but it will give you full information about the CPU including its authenticity.

Thank you for your response, @pressed_for_time. We didn't install the processor.  Trying to return it because it was clearly used by the obvious presence of thermal paste residue.  If you look at the image, does it look like it could be real? It doesn't look like any other i9's I've bought.

It seems to be an Intel processor of some sort. This is what the front view is supposed to look like

which does not match what you have. So probably a fake of some kind. But if it was sold as new and came in used condition that alone would be enough to justify a return and refund.
