For some weird reason, I was unable to install Intel XTU on a X series processor?!

I was unable to install Intel XTU even though my desktop is rockin a i7-5960X on Asus X99-Deluxe MB.

It keep saying "Attemped to install on an unsupported platform.", which my processor should be supported.

My desktop's specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-5960X
GPU: nVIDIA GeForce GTX1080Ti Founders Edition SLI
RAM: 64GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB DDR4 3200
Chipset: Asus X99-Deluxe
OS drive: Samsung SSD 860 Pro 1TB
PSU: Corsair AX1500i 80+ Titanium

G'day Tom,

I don't think it is a problem with your hardware, but rather your Windows version and configuration.  I would suggest that maybe the XTU software from ASUS website is out of date, and no longer working with the latest Windows builds, or perhaps there is some other factor with the software environment. 
    The X99 was released ready for Windows 8.1 - most ASUS drivers are conditioned for Windows7 and 8.

 

I hope this helps. I gave up on XTU a while ago, and now I use Windows PowerProfiles, BIOS Configs, and other 3rd party software to manipulate the hardware behaviour.
