In order to use a replacement processor, that processor must be socket, board and BIOS compatible. Whether your current processor is socketed is an unknown (if it is soldered down, you cannot replace it). Whether the board in your laptop can support the (power, voltage, etc.) requirements of the replacement processor is also an unknown. Finally, whether the BIOS in your laptop has support for this processor is also an unknown. The only people that can answer these unknowns is HP. You need to contact their technical support people for these answers.

Hope this helps,

intel core 2 duo uses LGA 775 socket, if you want to use more power processors thats should be fit on LGA socket.

But it requires latest BIOS firmware for updated processor codes ,

sorry I cant find documents , so please contact HP technical support in this case
