Have the Core 2 Quad Processors been discontinued???

Hi, Microcenter had a sell on the Q9550 proc for about $150.00 and it sold out! I talked to a rep on the phone and said that the Q9550 have been discontinued. I missed the sale. I guess i will have to order an overpriced Q9560 from Newegg.com... Thanks NBK

Wow and to think the launch data for the Q9550 was Q1'08 so a over two year old CPU gets discontinued. Yes you did miss out...but why post here?

I need to know if i should go ahead and buy a Q9560 while they are still around. I have been waiting for a price drop for years and i missed it!

That is up to you, noone else can answer that. Will they get any cheaper, unlikely unless it is on offers like what you saw that a distributor is trying to get rid of stock.

If oyur system is working fine and you haven't got any issues, then personally i would say up and the go for next gen system, i5/i7...or even wait for a few years, then again, if you have a P2 system...well yes i would say it is time to update. without knowing your system, what you do with your system and cash flow, there is not much that can be said....
