High CPU temperature under load with Intel Core i7-14700KF

I'm experiencing high CPU temperatures when my Intel Core i7-14700KF is under heavy load. During stress testing, the CPU temperature reaches 96-97 degrees Celsius. While gaming, the temperature ranges from 70 to 80 degrees Celsius.

I'm using the Thermaltake Toughliquid Cooler 360 for CPU cooling. Is it normal for the CPU temperature to reach such high levels under heavy load with this cooler? If not, what could be the issue?

I'm considering upgrading the cooler to improve CPU temperature management. Would this be necessary, or are the current temperatures within acceptable limits?

Additionally, I'm interested in overclocking my CPU, but I'm concerned about the impact on temperature. Would the current cooler be sufficient for overclocking, or would I need to upgrade?

Any suggestions or recommendations on coolers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your assistance.

Stop the stress-testing.   Your temperatures are fine.

Thanxx,

Is this temprature is normal? with this cooler?

can i do overclock with this? or atleast 100% load some times?

Your temps are fine.  I do not know what to expect with your cooler.

Can you overclock?  Yes, but it requires that you know what you are doing.  The XTU program is one of the worst in the world, so expect some frustration, and it is likely you will end-up rebuilding your PC when it screws up.

Just because the processor is capable of over-clocking, does not mean you should.   Why do you think you need to overclock?  Of course, it is your choice.   Just know what you are getting yourself into before you start.

Thank you very much, Doc. I appreciate your advice and guidance on overclocking.

Regarding my CPU temperature, you're correct that it's within acceptable limits. As you mentioned, I typically see temperatures around 70-75°C while gaming, with occasional spikes to 80°C or higher.  Are these temperatures are considered safe for the Intel Core i7-14700KF, especially with the Thermaltake Toughliquid Cooler 360?

I understand that overclocking can provide a performance boost, but it also comes with risks and requires careful consideration. For now, I'm content with the performance of my CPU at its stock settings.

However, I do have a question about CPU usage and temperature spikes when i install repack  games (DOD). Sometimes, these games can cause my CPU usage to reach 100%, leading to higher temperatures, as i mentioned erlier. Is this normal behavior for repackaged games, or is it something I should be concerned about?

I appreciate your insights and assistance.

Thank you again, Doc.

I would add that the Intel Turbo Boost feature eliminates a lot of the overclocking needs.

Hello, @Riadul

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

If I may jump into the conversation, the Intel® Core™ i7 processor 14700KF can go up to 100°C, so your temperatures are fine and within specifications

Also, Temperature spikes are not necessarily a cause for concern. When the system is idle, the temperature of the processor is not as high as when the system is running a workload.  Having temperature spikes, or having high or maximum temperatures while running a workload, such as games, isn't necessarily cause for concern and is kind of an expected behavior.

Intel processors constantly monitor their temperature and can rapidly adjust their frequency and power consumption to prevent overheating and damage.

You can verify this information here: Seeing Temperature Spikes when Playing Games on Systems with Intel® Core™ Processors

Regarding the Overclocking subject, I would like to let you know that altering clock frequency or voltage may damage or reduce the useful life of the processor and other system components and may reduce system stability and performance. If the processor is used outside of its specifications, the manufacturer's warranty may be voided.

One more question @Jocelyn_Intel

Will undervolting my CPU to reduce heat and increase CPU lifespan void my warranty?

Important Note:

I am a bit concerned about my CPU's heat and would like to extend its lifespan. I want to ensure that my CPU temperature does not exceed 80°C, even when under 100% load. If undervolting is not covered by your warranty policy, please provide a list of coolers that can help me achieve this goal. and please keep in mind i don't want to overclock, i only concern my overheat.

Please give me the solution, thanxx in advance

As at now just purchased a i7 14700K running on Asus TUF gaming B760M motherboard with Corsair H100 240 AIO liquid Cooler .
normal idel temp is aroung 45 C and as soon as FurMark2 Stresstest is started Instantly CPU temperature Spikes to 100 C . So I do not complete the stress test as I'm afraid it may hurt the CPU

Also Same thing experienced CPU usage and temperature spikes when i install repack  games (DOD). Sometimes, these games can cause my CPU usage to reach 100%, leading to higher temperatures

You should replace/change your cooler, at least 360 AIO, you should use.

Actually did a BIOS update to the latest version .The Corsair Cooler was handling temp at moderate loads .the Temp spike to 100C was when Furmark2 stress testing .

After the BIOS update the ,when checked the Asus Multicore Enhancement option ,it was now disabled which was enabled before.
This limited the Temperature shootup when the same Furmark2 Stress test is run again .This time is was at 85C  86C and there was no suddden shooting to 100 C as earlier .
Although i stopped the stress test after a littlewhile cause What is wanted to check is now confirmed .It is Asus Motherboard settings overiding intel default setting which caused the issue
