High Temps and Watchdog test failed

Hi guys,

I am running an i5-6500 CPU.

Recently I have downloaded intel XTU and tweaked a few sliders of Voltage offsets.

I tried reducing Voltage Offset by 0.040 Volts.

I have noticed my CPU is thermal throttling when I am playing Assassins Creed Origins.

Also when I turn my PC on I get this message saying my watchdog test failed.

Please help

Thanks!

Hello atiq666,

Thank you for joining this Intel Community.

I understand that you receive an error message after modifying Voltage offset on Intel® XTU. I would like to provide more information.

Because this is a utility that helps users to overclock and perform benchmarking, modifying your system may cause system instability.

We recommend you to visit the following website to learn how to overclock your system.

Additionally, this utility was developed mainly for Intel® Core™ X and K Processors/unlocked processors.

Hi Wanner,

Thank you for your information.

But is failing watchdog test a normal thing for non K processor like the one I am using?

My CPU temperatures seemed to be quite high.

Is there any way I can revert back to any changes I have made so far?

Kind Regards

Hello atiq666,

To restore your default settings on Intel® XTU, select the Default profile from the list of profiles, click Show Values, and then click Apply. You can also load default values on BIOS.

Additionally, you can use the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool to verify the functionality of your processor.
