I have an Intel Xeon E3-1230 Sandy Bridge CPU and was wondering what motherboard am I able to pair it with whilst keeping on a budget

This processor uses socket LGA 1155:

So, the first order of business is to find motherboards that use this socket.

Then, you would have to check with the motherboard manufacturer IF THEIR BIOS supports that specific processor.

 

On the same link, you can check compatible INTEL boards.

 

You can also use a retail site, like newegg, to search for boards, as in the link below:

Yes, you only see one board. I selected socket 1155 and 2nd/3rd gen processors, and that was all that came up. You may try the used marked on that auction site.
