I have an Intel i7 8700k and for some reason Doom 2016 has a issue of that it has 80+ cpu usage, which is bottlenecking my RTX 2080.

I have tried everything from reinstalling windows, trying several different versions of MSI UEFI Bios, reseting the cmos as well as trying several different motherboards and no luck. My friend has also has an i7 8700k and RTX 2080 and is CPU usage is 30-40% in that particular game and suggested I should do a ddu on my graphics card and no luck ethier. If there is a fix for this and this not due my processor if not I would like to RMA the processor.

What makes you think something is wrong with the processor?

What version of Windows 10 are you running? 1903? 1809? 1803? Other?

What anti-virus are you using?

Download and run this utility: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792

Because my frame rate is 70-90 FPS at 1440p in DOOM and the cpu utilization will be at 80-90% for sometime and spike to a 100% every once and while.

My friends PC has the same specs and it getting 140 to 200 FPS at 1440p and his CPU usage is 30-40%.

The version of Windows 10 I am running is 1903 and I use Windows Defender anti-virus.

I have tried the CPU diagnostic tool many times before and it always passes. I am not sure why this game is behaving this way when many other people I have asked who have computers like mine do not have this problem.

I think the best course of action would to try to troubleshoot this and if no luck swap out the CPU and hope for the best.

Well, if you are so convinced (I am not), then start a warranty replacement:

You must use VULKAN render instead of OpenGL.
