I have an older HP Workstation (Z800) with one Xeon X5667 3.07 GHz processor on Socket LGA1366 motherboard. I would like to update to two Intel Xeon X5690 Processors (3.46GHz/6-core). Just double-checking that this will fill in my current socket. Thanks.

My motherboard can take two Xeon chips. I apologize for troubling this community, but would appreciate the help.

It's no trouble - but all I can tell you is that you need to verify with HP that this processor is supported by their board. In order for a particular processor to be used, it has to be socket, board and BIOS compatible.

Mr. Pearson,

Thanks so much. I had no idea about checking the bios for compatibility! Your astute observation may have saved me much grief! Thanks again.
