I touched the thermal paste

Hi, everyone!

I made a mistake. I was looking for the pre applied thermal paste on the CPU cooler, and I accidentally touched it.

The CPU and the cooler are new. I'm thinking about buying a new thermal paste and apply it on the cooler, just the amount which I removed when I accidentally touched it.

But is it a problem to mix two types of thermal pastes, the original with the new one?

I was wearing antistatic gloves when I touched the cooler.

Many thanks.

It looks, to me, like the paste on the cooler is just fine.

Just wash your hands.

Yea, you haven't removed enough to make a difference. This paste is initially going to liquefy and spread out over the surface, so your disruption of it will not matter.

Thanks, guys!

But is it a problem if I apply just a tiny little drop of a different thermal paste just to compensate? Is it a problem to mix two brands of thermal paste?

I wouldn't mix TIMs and I don't think adding more is really necessary. If you really think that you need more, you would wipe off the pre-supplied TIM and replace it completely. Remember though, too much TIM can be just as bad as not enough TIM.
