I7 3770k worried about temperatures

Hi

Two years ago I bought a i7 3770k, everything was fine until 2 days, i was playing and the motherboard (Asus P8-Z77 Mpro) send me a notification saying the cpu was 77ºC, then i noticed than the fan was betwen 2000/2200 rpm, I don't know the temperature limit of the I7, so i stop playing, but I'm concerned about this, should I increase the rpm? What is the normal temperature?

Oh, I was playing bf4.
