Hello @marcomandolino

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. We would be more than glad to help you with your issue.

We understand you are no longer able to overclock your CPU, but according to our research, it is due to some changes made on Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility platform.

After reviewing the list of CPUs compatible with overclocking through XTU (Extreme Tuning Utility), it has come to our attention that your CPU is no longer listed as an eligible option. You can independently verify this by referring to the list provided here.

Find the list of the supported Intel® Processors on the download page for the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility, scroll down on the download page, and look for "This download is valid for the product(s) listed below".  Identify your Intel® Processor then check if it supports the Intel® XTU in the available list.

This is likely the primary explanation for the absence of the option to overclock your CPU within the XTU platform.

Also, according to the release notes of the latest XTU version 7.12.0.29:

·        XTU profiles created in the 7.9 release or older that were not automatically converted by launching XTU 7.10.x or 7.11.x releases are no longer supported and will need to be converted.

Regrettably, your CPU no longer meets the prerequisites for running XTU. The evolution and continuous development of the platform have led to the discontinuation of support for older products. It's noteworthy that your CPU model is categorized as "Discontinued," which further contributes to its ineligibility for overclocking purposes.

Thank you for the answer.

Not so happy that my CPU is not longer supported, also because it's put on a mobile workstation tha 2017 it costed 5000$!

i never use XTU for overclocking but for UNDERCLOCK, very useful, a lot of time.

So the question is there some option to resume the possibility of underclocking?

Could i use some older version? (it seems that it doesn't allow me to install older versions...)

Suggestions? Many thank

marcomandolino, You are very welcome, thank you very much for your response.

We are sorry to hear and we completely understand and respect that you are not happy about the updates done to the Intel® XTU that basically left your processor unsupported.

In reference to your questions, unfortunately, there is no option to underclock the unit either since the processor is not supported by the tool anymore.

The only version of the Intel® XTU program we have available on our official website is 7.12.0.29:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/17881/intel-extreme-tuning-utility-intel-xtu.html?wapkw=intel%20xtu

You might be able to find older versions of the application on third-party sites, but the installation and functionality will be at your own risk, since we do not have any official documentation from Intel® stating that you will be able to underclock the processor by using an older Intel® XTU.

Additionally, it is important to mention that altering clock frequency or voltage may damage or reduce the useful life of the processor and other system components, and may reduce system stability and performance. Product warranties may not apply if the processor is operated beyond its specifications, which is why we always advise to use the PC at stock configurations with the default BIOS settings.

Thank you i will turn my attention to third part software.

For all user i must to say that, in my experience, i found only advantages and improved stability in using underclocking.

Thank you again.

Hello @marcomandolino

Thank you for your reply.

We acknowledge your interest in underclocking, recognizing its advantages from your perspective. Nevertheless, we reiterate the significance of highlighting that modifying clock frequency or voltage has the potential to compromise the integrity and longevity of the processor and associated system components. Such alterations can also have adverse effects on system stability and overall performance. Hence, our consistent recommendation is to utilize the PC with factory-standard configurations and default BIOS settings.

Additionally, it is prudent to consider the potential risks associated with sourcing information from third-party websites, including exposure to viruses, malware, and other security concerns.

Having addressed these aspects, and unless there are further actions we can take, we propose to conclude this thread. We extend our best wishes for your endeavors ahead.
