I9-10850k over 95 degrees C when playing a game at 28% utilization?

Is this normal or acceptable? I'm playing an FPS game (Insurgency: Sandstorm) on medium settings (RTX3090) and CPU temps keep ramping up to 90+ degrees C? This is in an HP L30 desktop, single-fan liquid CPU cooler.

•          Open the application and click on "Scan" to see the system and device information

•          By default, Intel® SSU will take you to the "Summary View".

•          Click on the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".

•          To save your scan, click on "Next", then "Save".

* Use the option under the reply window to attach the report to the thread (Drag and drop here or browse files to attach).

Note: Please run this tool and choose to do a stress test with it this will allow you to monitor the temperatures reached per core. Since this one doesn’t generate a report please take some screenshots for us to see what the temperatures were reported.

-Are you experiencing any of the following?

  • The system boots up but shuts down automatically after a short period of time.
  • The reported CPU operating frequency is less than expected.
  • Evidence of CPU throttling.
  • General slowness of the system.
  • CPU/system fan noise is excessive.
  • Crashing / Hanging / Bluescreen
  • Constantly reboots or shuts down
  • Unusual fan sounds
  • Increasing/sustained high temperature on idle

Note: Please take note that “Intel Core Processors” are NOT expected to have overheating issues when you are using the compatible fan/cooling solution.

FYI: Intel® Processors have built-in thermal protection. If the processor gets too hot, the built-in protection shuts down the processor. If your computer is not over-clocked and is running under the design specifications, the built-in protection can help prevent damage to your system.

-Did you make sure that the cooling solution that you have is properly installed?

-Are you having this issue with any other games if you do please share their names with us?

-Were you able to have a normal/expected performance before? If yes, was there any recent change (hardware/software) related to the point when the issue started?

-Did you overclock the processor?

-Did you enable Intel XMP and if yes, what was the memory speed configured?

-Have you test if this behavior persists if the BIOS settings are set to default?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
