Bump.
Currently filed a case with the BBB. intel appears to be denying warranty repair and holding processors hostage or destroying them. the long hold times on the cases prevent customers from getting returns with the retailer. they actually told me best buy retail sold remarked processors which i dont believe, i've never had an issue in the many years i've purchased from them. what's hilarious is i have the receipt with the serial number on it, the processor was identified on the tool before i RMA'd it and intel said it was a legit processor. there is no way this can be remarked. basically intel just has to "say" it's remarked then they deny the shipment of a new processor or refund.
so on the outcome of my BBB case i recommend:
1. dont buy intel products, they obviously dont stand by them and attempt to wiggle out of making the customer whole
2. see number one
3. Intel doesnt share how they test nor the results of the test, i've also found several cases on the net of this happening to others
4. intels warranty and RMA process doesnt work and it's apparent they simply take so long to make the customer go away
5. if you are looking for a processor, AMD is out there for an option
6 . Dont buy intel products.

BBB response from INTEL is as follows, so you all can see how ridculous this is
The situation being faced by the RP is an industry-observed issue in retail, not focused
on Intel products but on all manufactured products. Searching the internet
provides many examples where customers at retail locations open seemingly
untouched packages only to find a missing or unexpected item. Our packaging
technologies, although robust, are not immune from such attacks.
The part we received from the RP was not a processor that was produced in one of our factories, which was evident by the markings on the part. The part we received holds no warranty and also violates our trademarks.
We continue to work with retailers in an effort to combat the retail fraud they face.
so basically what INTEL is saying here, if you buy a fake you are on your own. so i guess the onus is on the consumer to find another like product that doesnt have the same level (poor) support from the manufacturer.
also would like to note, that if you send the proc to INTEL and they declare it a fake..they destroy it and dont send it back. thus, you have no way of getting another independent validation on the the product. so basically, they can do whatever they want with impunity to deny a warranty claim. something to be mindful of....
another happy AMD customer has been gained today.
