I Was Wondering If I Changed My CPU Will It Wipe My Files And Pictures On My HDD.

First, to upgrade a processor, the new processor has to be socket, chipset, and bios compatible. Only the manufacturer of your laptop, or motherboard/system manufacture can tell you what processors are compatible with their bios.

 

Next, if your existing processor is soldered to the motherboard, then stop, do not pass go.

 

Next, if you are not soldered to the motherboard, and the manufacturer gives you a list of processors that are supported by their bios, then you can select one of those and install it. You should not have any issues, other than perhaps having to re-activate windows.

 

But, you know what is best to do? Take a backup of your system and data before you embark on such an adventure.
