Installation of Intel MPI Library 2018 Update 1 is hanging at first step. No msiexec.exe can be found in Tas Manager. Any Suggestion?

Intel MPI Library 2018 Update 1 for Windows

Dear community,

I cannot install MPI Library (Intel MPI Library 2018 Update 1; w_mpi-rt_p_2018.1.156.exe). After starting installation, the process is hanging at step 1 (Installing component 1 of 11: Intel Parallel Studio XE 2018 Common Files) with no further progress. I work with a company workstation HP Z840, Processor: Intel® Xeon® CPU E5-2687W v4 @ 3.00 GHz (double processors).

Looking at the last line of the install log file, I can see that the installer is hanging on the .msi installer files:

[---- 2019.01.28 14:42:20.229 00000dec] [MSI processing]: INFO: request to install msi: C:\Users\******\Downloads\Intel\w_mpi-rt_p_2018.1.156\installs\parallel_studio_xe\041\studio_common_libs

After this, the installer hangs. The .msi's it tries to install are found in C:\Users\******\Downloads\Intel\w_mpi-rt_p_2018.1.156\installs\parallel_studio_xe\041\, but they cannot be run on their own (it tells me to run them through setup.exe).

Windows Installer is checked: there is no msiexec.exe in task manager.

Any suggestion how to install Intel MPI Libarary 2018 Update 1? Thank you in advance!
