Intel 13500 CPU overheating

I just installed an intel 13500 CPU and the temperature consistently reads between 87-89 degrees.  I used the stock fan and it is installed on an ASUS Z790 motherboard.  I verified that the fan was seated. I noticed the issue originally during OS software installation and have done nothing more than install software.  I checked the temp after running for a while and it read 89 degrees.  I then let the computer sit overnight in a room was at 20 degrees Celsius, the next morning I powered it up, went straight into bios and the CPU reported 88 degrees.  Now the motherboard reported 21 degrees.  I am currently leaving the computer off and was wondering if there could be something wrong with the CPU which I pulled straight out of the box as a new sale.

Hello JasonCo,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I understand you are having high temperatures that may be affecting your computer performance.

I would like to let you know that your processor supports up to 100°C and any temp below it is normal and expected. However, to have a better view of this behavior, I would like to confirm the following:

1. Have you encountered any crashes or "Blue Screen of Death"?

2. Is the CPU at high temperatures for long periods of time?

3. Can you take a picture of the temperatures you mentioned?

4. Have you tested a different fan/cooling solution?

So I replaced the heat sink/fan and it all looks good. I replaced it with a noctua nh-u95 which mounts different. This heat sink has more surface contact and made a huge difference. Temps are under 50 now.

Thanks for your response

Hello JasonCo,

Thanks for your response. I am glad to know you were able to fix the issue by upgrading your cooling solution (fan) and your processor is now running cooler. I will proceed to close this thread, however, you can open a new one in case you need further support or if you face any issues with our products.
