Hi,
I had a question regarding my CPU package temperature since it is always between 10 and 15 degrees higher than any of the cores.
Is this expected behavior for 13980hx or is there a fault?
I was able to find another 13980hx inside an Asus laptop on the internet and there it looks normal (package and max core temperatures correspond and this behavior is not observed.
Sourced from here: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/intel-13th-gen-support.301584/page-5
Please check the attached picture of my CPU results- also using just 7 P cores or disabling the intel graphics does not affect it at all.
Thanks.

Hello Vdesign83,
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. If I were in your situation, I would be asking the same questions you are.
In this case, temperature spikes are not necessarily a cause for concern and these temperatures seem normal since they do not exceed the 100°C supported by the processor. I recommend you get in contact with your computer manufacturer for instructions on how to improve fan performance.
If you encounter any overheating issues in the future, this article might help you:

Of course, since the DTS sensors cannot report temperatures ABOVE their Tjmax limit, you really don't know whether this limit is being exceeded. If throttling is being asserted, you know it has reached Tjmax, but only if it reaches the THERMTRIP temperature, which is conveniently hidden from the user, will you know that it was exceeding Tjmax.
