Hello,

On a new laptop from PC Specialist, their Clevo ControlCenter2.0 requires Intel Extreme Tuning Utility to be present.

After installing this Intel utility from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24075/Intel-Extreme-Tuning-Utility-Intel-XTU-, I am getting the following error each time the system is booted:

Hello, Thomas54. Thank you for joining the Intel® Community.

Allow me to inform you that the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility is intended for unlocked/overclockable processors (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/processor-numbers.html Intel® Processor Numbers: Laptop, Desktop, and Mobile Device). The Intel® Core™ i7-8750H is not a valid product for the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (cf. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24075/Intel-Extreme-Tuning-Utility-Intel-XTU- Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility download page, Valid Products section).

In the case that the tool is not working as expected, it might be that the CPU is not supported.

Hello Antony,

Thanks for this information, which is very helpful.

The first thing that happened when I booted the system for the first time was the error message described here:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-performance/microsoftnet-framework-error-message/2a1704d9-541f-480b-abf9-697f2b6a1215?auth=1 Microsoft.NET framework error message - Microsoft Community

This led me to install this Intel utility. I did notice, before downloading it, that this processor was not on the list of supported processors. Since the ControlCenter software required it, I presumed someone had forgot to put the processor on the list, as people forget to update online lists all the time. When there is no "not supported" list, one never really knows if someone has just forgotten it.

So even if 99.9999999999% of modern Intel CPU models are supported, this one isn't (I hope you get the joke). :-)

I had no intention of overclocking it anyway. I'll go back to the vendor with this information and ask them to fix they broken software.

Many thanks,

Thomas

NB: I was sent a survey as a result of asking this question, which is fine.

But the survey took about a minute to ask me which language I preferred, and then the server stopped replying, so I gave up.

Is there a survey to rate the survey function?
