Intel Management Engine Interface Critical Update Failure July 2023

Not sure where best to post this?

Lenovo Vantage has been prompting for a critical driver update - Intel Management Engine Interface July 2023 11.8.94.4494

Go through the download (Intel Management Engine Firmware - 10 (1703 or Later)/11 (21H2 or Later)

- Intel ME FW Update utility opens, follow prompts to download

- Error window pops up "Intel Management Engine Interface is not installed in the system.

Check in the device manager and the Intel Management Engine Interface #1 exists. It is the last updated version 11.8.93.4323

Tried working through Lenovo and their workarounds (reinstalling Thunderbolt, uninstalling Lenovo Vantage app, etc.)

No success.

Does anyone here have a workaround as this is a critical update?

Hello KMH

Thank you for following the previous step.

Yes, we need to see where you are getting the alert from. And, where you are getting the updated too.

Also, in order to have more information about your system, please download, install and run Intel® System Support Utility for Windows. Make sure you check “Everything” before you scan, then save the report and attach it to your response.

Best regards,

Hi Jose,

Thanks for the further directions. I have downloaded the System Support Utility, run it and attached the .txt file.

The update is being prompted by Lenovo system update. I have attempted updating through Lenovo Vantage, Lenovo system update and directly from Lenovo site.

I have attached the error from today when I attempted it again after a Windows update.

Please let me know if that is the information you are looking for.

Hello KMH

Thank you for the screenshot and the report.

Intel® Management Engine (Intel® ME) Windows drivers are customized based on how the CPU, chipset and the motherboard are designed.

It is highly recommended to contact your laptop manufacturer to get the customized Intel® ME Windows drivers.

Hi Jose,

I do have the Intel Management Engine installed but when I attempt to update it, it doesn't recognize that it exists on my system.

See attached screenshot.

Even though it seems to think I have the most up to date driver it isn't correct as there is a critical update from July 2023.
