Hello,

My System: HP-Notebook with Intel i7-8550U Processor and Windows 10 Home Operating System

Can someone point me to a SW-monitoring tool with GUI and Driver-SW to enable checking the Turbo Boost Activity in my system?

Any assistance will be appreciated,

riicky

Hello riicky,

Thank you for posting on the Intel ® communities.

I can see that you want to monitor the Intel ® Turbo Boost technology. First, I would like to begin by letting you know that Intel ® Turbo Boost Technology works automatically and it increases the frequency that the processor is using depending on the load. Something that can be checked is the maximum frequency registered by the processor which can be checked using the tool called Intel ® Processor Diagnostic Tool, you can download it below:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool

Also, upon further investigation I was able to find a third-party application which apparently monitors the Intel ® Turbo Boost technology. Remember, this is a third-party application and it is not provided by Intel ®, nevertheless, for you convenience I am providing you with the link:

https://www.cpuid.com/softwares.html https://www.cpuid.com/softwares.html

For more information you could try contacting the software manufacturer.

I hope this helps.

Hi David,

thanks for the rapid assistance.

Have downloaded and run the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool.

This gives a lot of info, but does not show the info I am looking for: "if the Turbo Boost feature is present and active?"

The third party link assumedly also does not provide monitoring SW for the info required.

Any other resources?

Download https://www.hwinfo.com/download.php HWiNFO. It will even provide CPU frequency or multiplier graph (double click chosen row).

Hello riicky,

Thank you for your response.

Regarding the turbo boost working, what is the frequency reported by the diagnostics? The maximum frequency is 4.00 Ghz, it means that if the diagnostic showed a frequency higher than the base frequency which is 1.80 Ghz, the Intel ® Turbo Boost Technology is working.

Also, you can refer to what Gorbush has mentioned and see if it works for you; however, remember that these are third-party applications and not provided by Intel ® directly, thank you very much for your input Gorbush.

Hi Gorbusch,

Thanks for the tip.

Have run the Intel Processor Identification tool offered there.

Shows processor frequency at 3,66GB.

Therefore I assume the turbo boost feature is supported by my machine and is active.

Hi David,

Thanks again for the explanation.

The diagnostics tool shows 2,36GB and the

Intel Processor Identification tool recommended by Gorbush came up with 3,66 GB.

Therefore I assume the turbo boost feature is supported by my machine and is active.

Hello riicky,

Thank you for your response.

That is correct. Since it is running above the base frequency it means that the Intel ® Turbo Boost technology is working and remember that it automatically boosts the frequency of the processor depending on the task.
