When I attempt to scan the V/F curve in XTU, an error message pops up saying "VF Curve Scan is Invalid", "Throttling has caused the chart to render invalid voltage points.".
The "Thermal Throttling" readout below also says throttling is occurring during the scan, despite the package temperature readout not going over 50c.
When I run HWiNFO alongside it also reports low temps, but no thermal throttling events at all.
CPU: i9 12900K
BIOS settings have been reset to defaults.
Any idea whats going on?

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I want to understand what happened just as much as you do.
I would like to gather this information before moving forward:
1. Was the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU) working fine on a previous version?
2. Can you take a picture of this error?
3. Did you overclocked this processor of used Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (Intel® XMP)?
4. Did Intel® XMP crash or shut down by itself after this error appeared?
5. Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system.
- Download the Intel® SSU and save the application on your computer: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18377/intel-system-support-utility-for-windows.html
- Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel® SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
- To save your scan, click Next and click Save.

No, I'm currently running about as stock as it gets as I have reset BIOS to default.

I'm asuming you mean XTU instead of XMP :), and no it did not crash, only gave me that error.

Thanks for the confirmation. Based on this issue, I would like you to uninstall and reinstall the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU) to confirm if there was an issue with the previous installation.

Thanks for your patience. In this case, The default VF Curve scan measurement is susceptible to other workloads running on the system or throttling events.
Even though you are not facing thermal throttling, the message indicates the Curve Scan Results are non-monotonic, which could be a result of instability. The VF Curve is monotonic in nature, so each subsequent VF point will have a voltage equal to or greater than the voltage at a previous point.
Throttling in this case means system instability due to power, current, or Vmax, not necessarily thermal throttling issues. In the case of throttling, the VF Curve may look skewed (non-monotonic), which will prompt the user to rescan the curve. You may try to increase PL1/PL2 or IccMax at your own discretion.
Keep in mind that altering clock frequency or voltage may damage or reduce the useful life of the processor and other system components, and may reduce system stability and performance. Product warranties may not apply if the processor is operated beyond its specifications. Check with the manufacturers of the system and components for additional details. These scans don't work for all users and are individual based on system usage and configuration.

I’m currently running a decent overclock and have no issues at all in heavy or light loads. Let alone on stock settings.
