Intel XTU i9-10900kf Install failed Could not open key

Hello acaya,


Greeting from Intel Customer Support. We see that you're experiencing an issue with launching Intel XTU. May we kindly request some information so we can investigate this on our end? 


  • First off, can you provide us with your current system configuration by scanning your device? Please use Intel® System Support Utility for Windows* software. This will enable us in seeing your device as well as the drivers and firmware associated with the components.
  • What is the currently installed XTU version?
  • Please extract XTU log files. Steps are indicated below:
  1. Open Registry Editor
    1. Find HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software
    2. Create a new Key named “Intel” under that node (if it doesn’t already exist)
    3. Create a new Key named “XTU” under the “Intel” node (if it doesn’t already exist)
    4. Create a new DWORD value under the “XTU” node called “LoggingLevel” with value 4
    5. Restart the XTU Service, or restart the computer. 
    6. Start XTU and reproduce issue
    7. Share new XtuCore logs available in C:\ProgramDate\Intel\Intel Extreme Tuning Utility\Logs
  • Was this the first time this issue occurred?
  • Have you performed troubleshooting steps in attempting to resolve the issue? If yes, may we request for the steps you took? This is to prevent us from providing the exact same steps as well as to consider them as steps in isolating the issue.


We may have follow up questions if we think that the answers provided are insufficient to perform a root cause analysis. We will be waiting for your response.
