Hello every one

I have downloaded and installed Intel XTU on my laptop Lenovo y50-70 with Win 8.1. It had an issue with compatibility but i overcame it by running the .exe with compatibility mode for win7.

I didnt really like the program and i want to install it.

Problem is it doesnt let me uninstall and i dont understand why.

It says action could not be complete because it requires a reboot but when i reboot nothing happens.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Alex

Hello AlexZaf94,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

Since you installed the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU) in a non-compatible system, this can be causing the problem. So you can completely uninstall the Intel® XTU from the system, please try the following:

  1. Locate installutil.exe at C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\InstallUtil.exe
  2. Locate XTU service at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility\XtuService.exe
  3. Using those pieces of information, open a command prompt as an admin and enter your information for the location of the Extreme Tuning service. (Your location may be different. An example is given below.)
  4. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\InstallUtil.exe /u C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility\XtuService.exe
  5. Delete any folder named Intel® XTU from these locations: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel", "C:\ProgramData\Intel".
  6. Delete the folder named "Intel® Intel Telemetry" under “C:\ProgramData:”.
  7. You may want to reboot your system.

Note: In case you do not see the "ProgramData" folder click on the upper tab "View" and check the box "Hidden items".

If after this you are still unable to uninstall it, please let us know about the behavior the system has and share the error messages in case they appear, additionally, run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) and attach the report generated:

  • Open the application, check the "Everything" box, and click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel® SSU will take you to the "Summary View".
  • Click on the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
  • To save your scan, click on "Next", then "Save".
  • Use the option under the reply window to attach the report to the thread (Drag and drop here or browse files to attach).
