Intel Xeon 4110 change base frequency from 2.1 to 2.2 ghz

Hi is there a posibility that I can change the base frequency of intel xeon 4110 from 2.1 to 2.2 as it has a maximum frequency of 3.0. VM created in esxi needs at least processor with 2.2Ghz frequency.

Sometimes the base frequency could be tweaked a little by overclocking in BIOS but it depends on the board you have and if the processor allows to be overclocked. Could you tell what board are you using?

I am using Dell R640 Server and one of my VM has a minimum of 2.2GHZ processor requirement for it to power up. Is there any way I can adjust the frequency to 2.2 from 2.1?

Hello wushoo,

According to this article Why Is the Base Frequency of the Intel® Processor Slightly... the displayed base frequency is the combination of (Clock speed for motherboard) x (internal CPU clock rate). The CPU base frequency cannot be changed because basically you will be converting a Xeon 4110 into a 4114 for free

The remaining option will be to check with the board manufacturer (Dell) if there are any BIOS setting, similar to the Intel Turbo Boost Technology that could somehow overclock the CPU and make it to show a higher base frequency to the OS.
