Is it possible to tell which processor I am looking at by the printed white numbers on the black tab on the top side of the processor like.

No. you can't use those numbers to identify it. thats the processor serial number. you need to remove the thermal paste.
5000 series xeon processors look like this:

they will always have a number which starts with 'SL' use this number here http://processorfinder.intel.com/

As ojconcentrate advised, you can proceed further however you can also find CPU information by using this free utility http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php This will assist you extract information regarding your CPU.
