I am working on building an extremely powerful gaming rig while trying to keep it under $2000.00 I was wondering if anyone could give me some reasons as to why the i7s are supposed to be signifigantly superior to the amd phenom IIs. Price wise amd is signifigantly cheaper while running at the same stock speed so what am I paying for with the i7s?

The CPU Architecture is more important then GHz as the CPU can be faster per MHz @ a slower speed then a CPU is @ a faster speed.
As a result the i7 920 can match a X6 1090T

Note in some scores lower is better.
