Hello! I recently bought an Intel i5-3470S processor. Put in his system unit, the first couple of days he worked normally. Then the problems started, then the "blue screen", it did not load at all, it would hang at work. That is, I press the power button, the computer turns on, and the whole process stops, even the BIOS does not boot. When I put the old processor, everything works fine. Perhaps you need to change some parameters in the BIOS

Hello everybody! I noticed here that on the RAM 1.65. Can this adversely affect this processor? What voltage does this processor support?

Hello gredderg:

Thank you very much for joining the Intel® processor communities.

As you mentioned above, I was checking the specifications of the memory RAM, and in fact the voltage on it is 1.65, and yes, to answer your question that is too high for the processor, and since the memory controller is located on it, that could be the reason why the PC is not working properly.

The memory that is fully supported by the processor is: DDR3 1333/1600 and the voltage should be 1.5v:

http://ark.intel.com/products/68315/Intel-Core-i5-3470S-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_60-GHz http://ark.intel.com/products/68315/Intel-Core-i5-3470S-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_60-GHz

So, if you have the option, please try to get a memory that works with DDR3 1333/1600 / 1.5v, you just need one stick of those in order to test the PC.

Please let us know the results.

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards

Alberto

Hello! I installed RAM 1.5V today. So far only one time has fallen.

But, I could not install the two drivers through the "Intel® Driver Update Utilities".

"Drivers chipset" I performed the installation, but after the reboot, in "Driver update", shows that the new version is not installed and offers to install it. "HD Graphics driver" when installed, freezes. Can there be a problem with the compatibility of the video driver on the processor and the "nvidia"?

Hello gredderg:

Thank you very much for letting us know that information.

It is great to hear that the PC is working fine with a 1.5v memory stick.

In regard to your inquiry, remember that the onboard graphics of the processor get disable when you use a video card, in that case the video card itself will support all the graphics features on the PC.

Based on that, the drivers needed on this scenario will be the ones provided by Nvidia for the video card, the Intel graphics drivers will not work.

In regard to the chipset driver problem, just to let you know the Intel® Driver Update Utility is a tool that was design to work with Intel boards, so when you use a different motherboard the tool will not be that accurate in finding and installing the drivers, that is why we always recommend to install the drivers provided by the manufacturer that you can find on the following link:

Any questions, please let me know.

After installing the driver, the PC worked 24 hours and did not show the blue screen and did not hang. Today I turned on the PC, I started the game WWII, the picture quality dropped to 0. At 1080p, the pixels were visible. And if you put the quality on the average settings, the game lagged, although even on the old processor this was not. In general, changed the settings, rebooted the PC. And after half an hour of work, the game hung, and the screen went off, as if the video adapter turned off. I have more and more suspicions about the joint work of the graphics processor from intel and nvidia. As if they switch between themselves during the turn on the PC or work. Also, there might be a problem with the automatically downloaded driver in win 10.

Hello gredderg:

Thank you very much for providing those details.

Just to confirm, did you install the drivers provided by Nvidia?

I found one driver on their web site:

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/116344/en-us http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/116344/en-us

For testing purposes, do you have the option to remove the video card from the PC and test the game with the Intel onboard graphics? This is just to rule out a possible problem with the video card itself.

In the case you have the option to do that, on the following link you will be able to see the latest driver available for the Intel® HD Graphics 2500 controller that your processor has:

Driver 4425, latest:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25977/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-33-?product=81501 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25977/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-33-?product=81501

Additionally, I was checking the specifications of the board, and according to that information the motherboard is fully compatible with Windows® 8/7/Vista and XP, since you are using Windows® 10, there might be performance issues with the PC, for example while playing games, and there will be no graphics drivers available from Gigabyte, so the problem could be related to a compatibility of the board with the OS:

Please let me know the results of trying the steps above.

gredderg, Thank you very much for letting us know that information.

Perfect, we are glad to hear that failures at the moment are not observed and hopefully there will be no more problems with the PC. The Nvidia drivers are the ones for you to install since you are using a video card.

Any more questions, please let me know.

Hello guys! This afternoon, I decided to play games. But stumbled with a problem. The processor began to load heavily, up to 100%. For example, two days ago, I could run WoW And OBS (program for Stream), the load was about 50-70%. If you now run these programs, the download reaches 100% and the game appears friezes. The last thing I installed, it's Uplay(Ubisoft play launcher) and game Just Dance 2017. What is problem?)

gredderg, For the processor to reach 100% of utilization while playing games it is expected, some games required or demand more resources than others, specially, like in this case that you are using a video card a high utilization is expected. Now the (Ubisoft play launcher) might be demanding the use or more resources and more processes might be running in the background causing the PC to get freeze due to the high load of work.

Since you already installed the Nvidia graphics drivers, as an option we can try now a BIOS update on the board:

http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z68P-DS3-rev-20# support-dl http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z68P-DS3-rev-20# support-dl

If the problem persists after that, then the best thing to do will be to get in contact with Ubisoft forum support directly for further assistance on this matter:

Any questions, please let me know.

Hello! Games previously used the processor at 15-25%. Now they use 50% "Before, this was not." When JUST DANCE was installed, DirectX and VCREDIST 11.0.61030 were installed. Could they affect the CPU load? In normal mode, nothing is neglected except for the browser, up to 10% goes no more, sometimes above 1% does not rise.

Similarly, if you run the same games in the window, the first plan is to place the window, for example, with the task manager, then the download drops to 15%. If, on the contrary, go back to the window with the game, the load rises to 50%. At the time of switching windows, the game works and does not stop.

I had a feeling that one core is turned off when the game starts. Although in the dispatcher all the cores are working. But this is just a suspicion) On the old processor with two cores, games and then consumed less CPU.

Hi, gredderg, Thank you very much for letting us know that information and for providing those pictures.

To answer your first question, yes, it is expected to have more cpu utilization when you install a new DirectX and VCREDIST version, because when a new version gets installed it might include new fixes and features which might end up requiring more resources from the processor than on previous versions.

Now, regarding the pictures, it is expected for the CPU utilization to increase when you switch windows. For example, if you choose the task manager as primary window and the game is running on the background, the processor will set a priority on the application that is running as primary, in this case task manager, and since it does not required that much of CPU utilization it is expected to drop. On the other hand, if you choose the game window as primary, then the processor will assign all the resources to that primary window that is a game, which will result in an increment on the CPU utilization.

Any questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Alberto
