I've had the i9 11900k running in my system for a week now. After running a stress test using Intel UTX, I noticed that Thermal Throttling was occurring. I looked further and saw that this was happening at processor temperatures approaching 80 degrees. Isn't that strange and pretty early?

If the latter, it's possible that this is Power Throttling. In this case, this is controlled by the motherboard's BIOS and may be (but not always) configurable in BIOS Setup.
If it's the former, this is supposed to be occurring at the processor's Maximum Junction Temperature (Tjmax), but an offset is configurable. Again, this is controlled by the motherboard's BIOS and may be configurable from BIOS Setup.
Hope this helps,

Hello @DennisL
Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities.
We understand you are experiencing Thermal Throttling, please check this information:
What Is Throttling and How Can It Be Resolved?
As @n_scott_pearson mentioned, sometimes it could be controlled from the BIOS, in that case you should contact the system manufacturer for further assistance.

Hi Jose,
Thanks for your reply.
I've checked my cooling setup and that's all correct. But as you can see in the attached files the Heat Throtteling starts at temperatures around 75C. Isn't that low for the i9 11900K?
Its safe for the processor to reach higher temperatures right?
Greetings,
Dennis

Hello @DennisL
Thank you for your reply.
You are right, for the Intel® Core™ i9-11900K Processor the Junction Temperature allowed at the processor die is 100°C.
It could be related to the BIOS settings, that is the reason why recommended to contact the system manufacturer in order to make sure that everything is correct.
Best regards,
Jose B.
