Intel processor compatibility PPGA478. old T2310 and new T9400.

Could someone please explain to me why the intel processors (from the same socket - PPGA478) a T2310 and a T9400 are not compatible? I tried to install the T9400 on an Acer Aspire 4720Z notebook, but I was unsuccessful.

In order for a processor to be used, it must be compatible with the socket, the board and especially the board's BIOS. This last hurdle is the most common stumbling point. You need to talk to the vendor and find out what processors are compatible with their BIOS.
