Is the i7 7700K processor i bought counterfeit?

Recently i purchased intel i7 7700 К processor on aliexpress.com in "SinoTrade" store. I was very surprised when i recieved it because it wasnt packed in any box, it didnt have any documents, instructions, warranty card, e.t.c. Its surface was very scratched and everything looked very suspicious. I didnt like that situation at all. I checked the item page description and realised that for some reason, the Intel logo on item was hidden and description brand was listed as OLOEY instead of Intel.

I contacted aliexpress support and they told me that the processor is counterfeit and offered me a refund. Then, the seller intended the dispute and claimed that he is official Intel reseller. He said that he has all permissions and certifications to sell this production and it is original. He couldnt explain, why it didnt had any package, documents or why is it scratched, though. The support believed him and refund of my money was cancelled. But im sure he is lying, because he deleted all of his items in store and doesnt sell anything now. If he was an official representative, why would he sell items with no package and documents, and why would he delete everything from his store? You should ALWAYS purchase from a reputable authorized seller. Disputes like this are between you and the seller.

If you suspect it is counterfeit, return it to the seller for a refund.

Is there any way to verify that? Seller claims the FPO number warrany check passes on intel site, but i have read that there are existing counterfeit processors with FPO numbers, passing verification. How do i verify to be sure?

Counterfeiting can also provide information on the lid of the processor.

Look, there is no way to tell from here if your processor is legitimate or not. NEW processors, whether boxed or tray, do not come with scratches on them.

This topic looks weird for me, it's bloody easy to check if your processor is original or not.

1. You put it in the socket of your motherboard then you check what appears on your screen and that's it you will know what is the model of the cpu you get.

2. From the photos you show here, i am sure that is a 1151 socket cpu so......

Yes, if he installs it, he will have more information. But, that was not the point. He is trying to determine, just from physical appearance, if it is counterfeit.

It is not the point of it being an 1151 socket.

So, from just physical appearance, can you make such a determination? The answer is no.

But, now the processor is installed. And, that comes at a risk. And, if he finds an issue with the processor and uninstalls it, that adds an additional risk. He already has a negative relationship with the seller. All of this will only add to the sellers position.

So, asking again, from just the physical appearance, can you make such a determination that the processor is a counterfeit, or if it is used? Remember, it came with no information.

The processor is a 1151 socket, yes i am sure of that, i even asks Mamai to send a photo of the back of the processor to confirm my statement.

I agree with you about the software to install on his rig in order to get further details. Intel developed few useful softwares which will check the authenticity of his processor.

Besides, once he installed the processor on his motherboard, he will enter the UEFI bios and will know for sure which model of processor he bought. Unless he bought his

motherboard and his processor from the same seller he maybe worry, otherwise i keep saying that his i7 looks legit to me.
