Hello SArif6,

Thank you for contacting Intel Xeon Community Support, I hope you find very well.

I was reviewing your thread and I will be more than happy to assist you with your concerns.

I would like to gather and confirm the following details in order to provide you the most accurate information.

  1. Could you please provide us with more details about this implementation you are trying to accomplish?
  2. Are you referring to "Cut-through switching" when you mention in this thread the "cut-through mode"?
  3. What is the specific component (model & brand name ) you are planning to install on the PCIe Slot?

I will keep monitoring your thread and I will be waiting for your response in order to proceed with the next step and help you out with the most accurate information.

Have a wonderful day.

Hello SArif6,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.

Before we proceed, let me clarify your project here. Are you creating an embedded system? Are you trying to embed Intel X722 with your designed board?

If you have questions, please let us know. In case we do not hear from you, we will make a follow up after 3 workings days. Thank you.

Hi,

No we are not creating an embedded system. We want to want to speed up the packet processing in our Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2640 and Hewlett-Packard 212B mother board using x722. We believe by using cut-through switching, the time to send/receive packet to NIC will be reduced. We want to know if E5 supports cut-through or not. Thank you!

Hello SArif6,

Thank you for the clarification. However, cut-through switching is for Ethernet or a networking feature. If you really want to know if the Xeon(R) CPU E5-2640, I can move this thread to our server team for them to further check?

If you have questions, please let us know. In case we do not hear from you, we will make a follow up after 3 workings days. Thank you.
