hello ,

best regards to all, I am new to this forum .

I have one question , regarding to Max Turbo Frequency .

in server with intel xeon silver 4316 processor , with 20 cores , I can use 16 core because there is some restriction regarding licenses . Oracle database is spin on server and my thoughts are because there will be fours cores which will never use , could I increase CPU frequency from 2.3 to 3.2GHz or cpu will use max frequency by itself?

Max turbo frequency is the frequency a CPU targets when stressed by a demanding application. It’s the maximum single-core frequency a CPU achieves without overclocking. Due to their robust architecture, overclocking isn't an option for Intel® Xeon® Processors.

Thanks for replay.

so basely the processor will use the turbo frequency for more demanding tasks, and considering that 4 cores will always be free, it will never work at 100%

No! The decision on whether to boost, how much to boost and how long to boost is dependent upon a number of factors, the most important being the perceived thermal headroom available and the number of active cores.
