Max ram for Intel Pentium E5500 @ 2.80GHz Wolfdale 45nm Technology 800 MHz FSB??

Hi,

Just wondering what the maximum ram the CPU 'Intel® Pentium® Processor E5500 (2M Cache, 2.80 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)', is able to support. I currently have 4GB installed and it works fine, but when i replace them with 8GB (2x4gb), the system won't start even though the motherboard can support 8GB.

Thanks in advance

Lee

Hello Lee, I would like to inform you that this specific processor does not come with the memory controller hub embedded.

Therefore, the motherboard you are using is in charge of the RAM. I would recommend you to check with the board manufacture if you may need a BIOS update or any other troubleshooting steps.

Hello,
you should look for the motherboard datasheet.
I think this card can accept maximum 2 x 2G

I would like to inform you that none of the processors of this class did.  It was up to the motherboard manufacturer to provide the memory controller chipset (which may have been an intel memory controller).
