I have a laptop I bought in may of 2010. It is right out of warranty and had a hdd crash during the warranty. I got a replacement but instead popped a ssd in. That crashed in four months. Then a wd scorpio black crashed as well. I now have the replacement wd drive in the computer and it is working but feels strange.
I heard I could have a defective motherboard because of the new processors that have been recalled. Does this sound like it could be why my hdds are crashing and should acer gateway(nv5924u) fix my computer out of warranty? Is the motherboard covered by a different warranty???
also if I have a defective motherboard how can I tell?
thanks

You can run CPU-Z and click on the motherboard tab. If the Southbridge is Rev. B3 then your motherboard is up-to-date.
