Hello

I have an i7 13700k cpu and an MSI Pro z690-A Motherboard

When I watch a youtube video on 4k or play a game like overwatch 2

My cpu extremely overheat and hit 100c on most cores

I've tried to run cinebench without doing any undervolting and default MSI click bios 5 settings

And I keep getting this insanely bad result

yahya3rd_1-1711044218880.png

As you can see in the highlight in yellow is while the average numbers while running the benchmark test and the green highlight is when I am not doing any activity

You can notice that when I start benchmark test

VID is around 0.920V

temp is on 100c

P-Core is around 3500 MHz

E-Core is around 3000 MHz

On the other hand when there is no activity or normal activity like at the moment I am seeing the following numbers:

VID is on 1.420V

temp is on 50c

P-Core is 5287 MHz

E-Core is 4190 MHz

Please note that I've tried to do Core voltage offset using ETU at -0.050v but the number are still almost the same

and when I try to decrease the offset even more the PC crashes

Please help me to fix this issue

You get 55~62°C on idle? What is the power usage?

Someone mentioned high temps,, and apparently reinstalling the AIO software helped a lot, or even solved the problem.

FYI, on idle the power usage should be less than 10W, and temps should be like toom temperature+  8°C.
So normal idle temps while room temp is 20°C, shuld be like CPU package at 28°C, regardless if air or water cooling.

8°C room temperature?  Isn't that a tad on the nippy side?  I always thought 22°C was room temp.

hehe, i even left a double space there "temperature+  8" , i guess we all see what we want to see.

Room temp will be always 20, or very close to that value in Celsius. CPUs will be usually 6 but mostly 8 degrees above room temperature, if the PC is just idling and doing nothing.

Therefore, 28 degrees on idle is what most ppl should see as normal.

I got it.  Just messing with you.

However, most people's idle temperature is ~40c. It takes a serious liquid cooling solution to get 28c.

Just saying,

Nope.

this here is the cooler master hyper 212, which gives very low temps, in fact as low as the lowest, even a liquid cooling does:

Only 3 of the cooling solutions did 24°C on idle, one of them is the heatsink above, the other two are liquid cooling:

Edit*
Excluding laptops, laptops may run hot to remain more silent. Then again, most topics here are about desktop/workstation CPUs.

@KrissyG   Good info on the fans.   That cooler master is on my list for a replacement.
