I have a choice between a q8200 and an e8400 (only these two to choose from). The Duo is 3.0 with 6 mb cache ... the Quad 2.33 with 4 mb cache.
I'm on an MSI P45-Neo2, with 2x2 gb of 1333 OCZ Reaper, (and the Cooler Master 690 nVidia case, which is very cool).
Not a gamer, just maybe 5-6 word processors and 10 browsers open max, plus a low-resource-hogging image editor. Although I am planning to move some multi-track recording stuff onto the computer, and off an old stand-alone recorder.
Lemme know which one sounds best.

Hello;
If you system is just for regular tasks and for home use the E8400 should be more than enough; however as per the applications that you are planning to run on the future I do recommend to go for the Q8200 processor. You can find a more detail comparison between both processors here:
