Ok so I have done the recent bios update for my motherboard (Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX Rev 1.1)...bios version FJd which introduced the new "intel default settings". What I noticed is my temps got WORSE and my performance got worse with this profile. Running Cinebench R23 for example temps on a few cores would hit 100 degrees and thermal throttle and the multicore score dropped to 28k. Reverting back to the gigabyte perfdrive optimised profile (but manually enforcing a PL1 and PL2 of 253 instead of the default 4095W... everything else remains on "Auto" though) would peak temps at 94 degrees, no thermal throttling and scores around 30-31k. However I still don't feel comfortable peaking at 94 degrees (temps were averaging in the high 80s to low 90s during a 10 minute Cinebench multi core test)...idle temps are fine (20-30 degrees) and gaming temps appear to be fine (under 70 degrees averaging 50s-60s on the games I've tested so far anyway) but I've seen numerous YouTube videos where they say it's best to be under 80-85 degrees during full load. My cooler is a Peerless Assassin 120 SE. Is this normal? I mean my gaming temps and idle temps seem to be fine but the full load temps seem to be abnormally high and even higher to the point of throttling on the new "intel default" profile which seems crazy since isn't that profile supposed to make temps and stuff BETTER?
