Recently picked up a five used NUC D34010WYK units online to use for a local kubernetes cluster build. Aside from a couple dead CMOS batteries, 4 of 5 worked fine. The fifth was on a much older BIOS version (v0040) from 2015 so I decided to update it - I should have known better.
I used a copy of the wy0056.bio file provided by n_scott_pearson on this forum in another post, unzipped it and dropped it on a flash drive and did the F7 bios update process.. everything looked ok, but then it rebooted and never came back. When attempting to power it on, instead of a solid blue light, it slowly (about once every 5 seconds) flashes blue briefly. I tried the power menu to flash again, nothing... I tried the jumper recovery method (unplugged power, switched the jumper, plugged in FAT32 flash drive, plugged in power and powered on) and the same thing happens, no signs of life - no display output, no flashing light on the flash drive indicating that its attempting to read from it. I also tried a different flash drive and different USB ports when doing the jumper recovery with no luck either.
I looked around for an older bios file in hopes that maybe I could downgrade using the jumper method but of course, the intel download site is still broken and I have a feeling they aren't going to be fixing it. Would love to try jumper recovery with version WY0041 if someone has it, since its the known-good version that the other 4 units I purchased have installed.
At this point, I am starting to suspect the unit is just toast but I was hoping this is something that one of the veterans around here might have seen before on this unit. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Steve

One blink every 5 seconds may be a sign that Power-on circuit may have failed. You may try an other Power Supply, but I suspect that the problem is in the board circuit, rather than in the Power Brick.

Yeah that was one of my first thoughts as well. I have tried it with 3 different power supplies (that work fine on other units) and it behaves the same with them all.

Unfortunately, in most cases, I only have the tips for the various NUC (and Desktop Boards) BIOSs in my archive. Now that the NUCs are transitioned to Asus and Asus only accepted responsibility for the 7th Gen onward, the database for the older NUCs is likely long gone. I think we could use the Wayback Machine to get this BIOS 41, but, considering everything else, I am unsure we can get it to do a BIOS Recovery.

well good news on this front - i contacted the seller and he said he has a bunch more of those units laying around without ram and he's going to send me one to replace it so this one can just be a cute little paper weight going forward.
thank you all for taking the time to respond to me!
