Optimizing Intel Core i7 or i9 processor for heavy workloads - Emmanuel Katto Uganda

Hello everyone, I am Emmanuel Katto. I'm using an Intel Core i7 or i9 processor for tasks like video editing and 3D modeling, but I'm experiencing performance bottlenecks. What are some settings and configurations I can adjust to optimize my processor's performance in these workflows? Are there any specific power management settings, thermal settings, or software tweaks that can help me get the most out of my processor?

Please let me know!

Thanks!

Emmanuel Katto

Which processor are you using exactly? You can't be using both i7 or i9. The i9s are more powerful, with more cache and higher clock speed. Are you using a 12TH gen, 13th gen or 14th gen processor.

For video editing, you need a powerful i9-based processor, lots of fast ram (64GB minimum for large files) and a powerful GPU, like an nVidia RTX3090/Ti or if you can afford it, the new RTX4090. Also make sure you are working off fast and big SSD storage (2TB minimum).

I assume you have a modern motherboard but I would first make sure I have all the basics mentioned above in place. BTW, ensure that your ram is XMP enabled in BIOS to run at its stated speeds.

With the above specs, you should be able to have fast and smooth video edits.
