Pentium G7400: ECC Support?

Hello:

The Ark listing for the Pentium G7400 does not have a "ECC Memory Supported" line at all: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/219435/intel-pentium-gold-g7400-processor-6m-cache-3-70-ghz.html

Other CPUs where ECC is *not* supported have this line with an explicit "No". The embedded version of this CPU (G7400E) includes the line and marks it "Yes". The older generations of this CPU (5820, etc) are also marked with "Yes".

Since the line is completely missing for the G7400, does this CPU support ECC RAM or not? 

I've built a NAS using a Supermicro X13-SCH-F motherboard with 32GB of Micron 4800 DDR5 UDIMM ECC RAM and the OS (TrueNAS Scale) reports ECC RAM. But I've also found that nobody has a *definitive* test for whether ECC is active and working outside of a lab or soldering to a DIMM and injecting errors.

Hi Jay. Thanks for chiming in. Unfortunately, that’s not a useful suggestion because I’ve already seen those resources.

As I explained, the issue is that the ark listing is MISSING all ECC information—it’s literally not there for the Pentium G7400. (By contrast, for the embedded version G7400E, ECC support is explicitly listed as YES.) So the usual “RTFM” advice doesn’t seem to apply because Intel forget to actually *write* the manual.

I contacted Intel support directly and they have no idea whether the G7400 supports ECC or not—they’re going to get back to me in a few days after “consulting the engineers.” I’ll update the post with their response.

I hope you are doing well. Upon further investigation, we have confirmed that Intel® Pentium® Gold G7400 Processor does not support ECC and that's why Intel ARK does not display that feature.
