Possible problem with I7 14700K

I just built a new PC and I am having problems with the M.2 slot that connects with the CPU for NVMe SSD and the GPU is not being recognized as well.

The PC specs are, Motherboard ASUS PRIME Z790-p WiFi / RAM 2x Kingston Fury Beast 16GB DDR5 / NVMe M.2 Kingston Fury Renegade PCIe 4.0 1TB / Processor Intel Core I7 14700K / GPU GeForce RTX 3070 Aorus / Power Supply XPG Kyber 850 gold / Cooler Corsair H150 RGB.

I tested with another motherboard and had the same problem, both motherboards didn't have any signs of physical damage, the processor also looks visibly fine. When I connect the SSD to another M.2 slot it works fine. 

Could there be a problem with the processor ?

Hi, did you solve your problem?
I´m also having a porblem to recognize my NVME SSD in the M.2_1 slot, which is 'directly' wired to the CPU. I'm running the I7 14700k on the AUS Prime Z790-p too. When I install the SSD in M.2_2 or M.2_3 I have no problem, but these are connectet via the Z790 Chipset.

I've read about problems when using the internal GPU of the CPU and the unability to turn on CSM (same problem here). I just build my PC today and I'am still waiting for the GPU to be delivered, so that could be the problem. I'll have a look at it when it arrives in the upcomming days. 
But this still seems more like a bug to me, because why shouldnt I be able to use these PCIE lanes, when there is no external GPU installed...

I also found this problem, when there is no discrete card the CSM doesn't turn on, but when I installed a discrete card the CSM turns on, but still doesn't read the M.2 when installing the system I've tried three M.2's and none of them can be read.

Solved the problem it was actually the BIOS version which was from April, but the 14th gen processor came out in october and that caused the incompatibility, if you update your BIOS both the M.2 slot and GPU should work.

I've updated the BIOS and it immediately picked up the second SSD, thanks for the tip!
But I simultaneously suffered from Windows crashes every minute and every time it was a different error Message. Than I switched the SSD back down again, but with the new BIOS. And I still got some crashes after like every 5 minutes or so. I than tried to set the RAM frequency to Auto instead of the maximum 5600Mhz and it is now running stable since a few hours, fingers crossed. 
With the older BIOS version I was able to let it run at 5600Mhz without any problem, now it is 'only' at 4200Mhz. (I'm using the Corsair Vengeance DDR5 16Gb*4)
Yes @DeividA_Intel, it is only a problem in the red slot (direct to CPU), the green (via Chipset) ones work fine.
Now I'm running BIOS vers. 1603

I had not done any tweaks with RAM frequency and didn't get any problems, so if you leave it at auto it should be fine. As for windows it was a litlle laggy after updating BIOS, but I activated it and did a restart+update and it stopped lagging, did you check if your windows is properply activated and updated?

Have the same problem and doesn't matter if i update the bios, change the memory, MOBO, storage still doing the same.

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I can imagine how frustrating that would be and I will do my best to assist you on this matter.

To have a better view of this issue, can you confirm the following:

1. Is the issue present when connecting M.2 SSD to the first slot (Red) and fine with the other slots (green)? See the image attached for reference.

2. Did you get any LED codes from the motherboard when the GPU or SSD is connected?

3. Did you test the GPU as well with the 2nd motherboard?

4. What is the brand and model name of the 2nd motherboard?

5. What is the BIOS version installed?

6. Did you follow the manual (PRIME Z790-P WIFI User’s Manual ( English Edition ))?

I encountered the same problem.
The motherboard is: asus Z790-P wifi; cpu i7-14700k. The inherited graphics card is used. M.2:crucial p3 1TB. M.2 works fine on another computer. bios has been updated to 1402. The system can display solid-state bar information and status, but it is not displayed when the system is installed. I installed the system on this solid state on another computer. When I started it on this computer, the startup items could be recognized, but after 4-5 minutes of startup, a blue screen appeared. When setting compatibility in startup items, it is gray and cannot be set. Is it a 14th cpu compatibility issue? How to solve?

Latest BIOS version is 1603, you should install the latest version, because it refers to M.2 compatibility issues. Also if you install the OS, trough a different PC it may cause problems because each windows version is specific to the motherboard.

I updated to 1603. still does not recognize M.2. all three nvme m.2 ports I tried. In installing the system is not recognizing M.2. When I go into the Bios I can see the M.2 solid state bar information that is displayed. I tried installing a video card. When closing the resize bar the SMS compatibility settings are available. But when reinstalling the system it still does not recognize the M.2. What is the problem. Is the 14700k not compatible with the Z790-P wifi?

Remarks. The video card was removed from a perfectly working pc with no problems. Solid state also has no issues.

I just tried, I set intel fast storage to off and now it recognizes it. But I don't know why the default setting on the motherboard is on. The problem of not recognizing the m.2 occurs?

I have found the problem. The current 14700k is not compatible with the ddr5 xml overclocking profile. Also now it won't work at 5600 and even manually setting the 5600 frequency will cause the system to not boot. Using the auto frequency and not using the xml overclocking profile you can install and use the system normally. Now my pc works on 4000. Looking forward to an official solution to this problem so that ddr5 can work on its original frequency of 5600.
