I guess I missed that email. Now, with this Corona Virus thing going on, it's becoming difficult to get components and then how do you trust that the packaging or product is not contaminated. Where can I get a supported heat sync that's not going to cost me $50. Intel, what happened to the Boxed product???

"I guess I missed that email." No, you just did not read the information on the product:
Look here under "included items": https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/186604/intel-core-i7-9700k-processor-12m-cache-up-to-4-90-ghz.html
And, even on the web stores, it says "Cooling device not included - Processor Only"
Where can you get a heat sink? You can get one for as little as $10: https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?N=100008000%20601300403&Order=PRICE
The above links provided for your convenience.

I appreciate it. I normally purchase through distribution and not retail like New Egg or Amazon. I was really hoping someone from intel would comment but I guess they don't peruse these communities.

This is an unlocked CPU, if it is overclocked TDP may increase and a stock fan included in the package may not meet the TDP requirement. Also, the product link literally says "Please note: The boxed product does not include a fan or heat sink"... The response from Al is correct, what other response would you expect from an Intel guy?

Well, enthusiast is a better term,

@CScot2 Intel staff do peruse the forums and provide great support.
My opinion is that most users who purchase a higher end processor and build their own machines are also the same users who discard the stock cooler and opt for a higher end cooling solution of their own choice, and at their own cost. Again, in my opinion, not providing a cooling solution, under the same assumption, saves you money.
Just an opinion.
