I am checking the vulnerability of Intel based PC's at my place of work.
On some of the result logs I'm seeing the aforementioned values ("REKEY_ERROR value" and "Re-Key needed").
I'm trying to find out what these mean.

Could you please confirm that you are running version 126.96.36.199 of the detection tool? If you have an older version, please download the latest version from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27150 Download Intel-SA-00086 Detection Tool
It would also be helpful if you could provide a screenshot of the output.

Hi. Engineering has confirmed that this is an error in the tool. An updated tool with a fix should be available in 1-2 weeks.
Your system should be showing as Not Vulnerable.
