Serious driver issues i3-7100. GPU artifacts

Hi,

I am an happy owner of a i3-7100 and found out that it is impossible to get my PC out of sleep or hibernation in a way I can continue working.

When the computer resumes the whole screen is filled with artifacts.(see screenshot)

Note that I have tested this with another motherboard (also other brands) , other monitor and other cable without any success.

Is this a driver issue or am I facing something entirely else?

Hi Coffeejunk,

 

 

I understand you are currently using on-board graphics and every time the computer tries to wake up from sleep or hibernation you get graphics artifacts, let me help you trying to identify if this problem is caused by the processor or the graphics controller.

 

 

I would like to have the motherboard model, graphics drivers version, memory part numbers, all this information can be available after running the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows- Intel® System Support Utility

 

 

You can save the report and attach it to this thread.

Let's try testing the latest graphics drivers version 4815 below:

Please let me know if the driver version 4815 fixes this problem, I have been testing same graphics controller but I did not get any of the issues you have reported on this thread.

Hi,

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to make any difference. The artifacts remain exactly the same.

Other than motherboard chipset and processor I can't think of any other thing that could cause this. Besides monitor and cable of course but they have been replaced by others to rule those out.

I am quite clueless :S

Hi Coffeejunk,

 

 

Sorry for the inconvenience. This might be an issue with the graphics controller on this processor. At this stage, it does not seem to be software (drivers), I recommend contacting Intel for https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/contact-support.html# @2 warranty service. Please choose processor support and open a request for warranty.

Hi CoffeeJunk,

Did you manage to get this issue sorted, as i have got the exact same issue with an i3 7100. I initially thought it was a bad hdmi on my motherboard but my previous i3 skylake cpu ruled that out. I have tried latest drivers and everything. It now seems to randomly appear when i am watching something on youtube, I am clueless.
