Hello Burandtman:

Thank you for contacting the Intel® Communities.

The heatsink design specifications for the 6th Gen Intel Core socketed processors are unchanged from previous generations. The heatsinks included with Intel boxed processors are fully compliant to these specifications. For questions on 3rd party heatsinks please contact the manufacturer directly.

Intel cannot answer questions regarding Noctua coolers for liability and other reasons. Here's my take. I have Noctua and other cooler brands and can state that Noctua's engineering is second to none. Read the articles regarding Skylake bending and you will discover that the problem is not static bending, but dynamic bending, in other words, for Skylake it is recommended to remove large coolers before moving PCs. And when I say moving, I'm talking about moving up/down stairs, into vehicles, etc., not just from a workbench to a table in the same room. Noctua is very efficient at answering queries, by the way.

"The consensus from each of the companies that made a statement, with the exception of Scythe (which seems to be the only company affected) is that there is little to no danger of any CPU bending happening unless it happens during transport."
