Temp issue with i7 6800k

Hello;

I've been strugling with my 6800k because I'm having extremely high temps when under load.

I just build a new PC with:

Asus Sabertooth X99, BIOS F2 (latest)

PSU 780W

Gygabyte 1070 G1 (BIOS F2, latest)

Samsung 960 Pro M.2

I7 6800K @ factory settings

2x8 Gb of Corsair Dominator DDR4 3000Mhz CL15 (but it's runing much slower)

Corsair H100i

Coollaboratory Liquid pro thermal paste

When loading sistem every thing looks fine, but when try to run Cinebench for the strees test the temp just goes over 97ºC in about 5 or 6 seconds, then when the test finishes goes down as fast as it went up. Watching GPUz data I can bring you this data.

@ idle:

V core: 0.886v

CPU Speed: 1199GHz

CPU temp: 38ºC

H100i Temp: 26ºC

@ under load:

V core: 1.094v

CPU speed : 3497Ghz

CPU max tep

Temperatura Maxima 97º C

H100i Temp: 28.7ºC

The cooling water pump is working, the heat spreader is properly instaled, other wise the temp wouldn't drop as fast as goes up.

I'm attaching the Intel SSU report aswell.

Here is somthing going wrong for sure... any ideas, solution?

Hello JC, thaks for your answere.

Im comparing my 6800K (at stock BIOS setting) setting with other owners of these CPU wich have OC'd them @ 4.3 or even 4.5GHz having max temps of 65 - 70ºC runing stress tests (like Aida on Cinebench). I can't even try to set an XMP profle to push mi DDR4 at 3000Mhz (wich sould be their normal speed to take advantage of the bandwith) not even mention trying a soft OC, with that stock temp is impossible for sure, I know.

Speaking with other owners make me think that there is something wrong with this particular CPU, maybe some config? some kind of software incompatibility? regardless the XPM and the OC, a CPU sould never hit the 80ºC mark at stock settings using just a render benchmark, mine gets 92º, what should I spect to happen when I render 4k videos with multiple apps like Photoshop and Illustrator onpened at the same time? im really afraid of frying it when working.

I moved from a 4770K @ 4.9Ghz (76º under heavy load) to a 6 core seeking more performance of theese 2 extra cores but the jump on temperature is huge... not sure if the move was right at this point.

Per the initial description (idle temp @38ºC) it is perfectly fine. We have also to consider that this processor supports up to 2400 MHz (DDR4) of RAM frequency, altering clock frequency or voltage may damage or reduce the useful life of the processor and other system components, and may reduce system stability and performance. Product warranties may not apply if the processor is operated beyond its specifications. Hello JC:

I checked the BIOS and now im runing "X99 BIOS 3505" dowloaded fromt Asus oficial web site and instaled as the users manual specs, woking OK, gathering same temps under the same benchmark (Cinebench and Aida)

I just ran the CPU Diagnostic Tool. The CPU passes the all test but hits the 70º in many times and the integrated Tempeature Monitor shows the following message:

"Expected Greater than 1 degrees below max.

Recieved 40 degrees below max" (moves between 37 and 40º)

As you see, on a simple diagnostic test gets very hot. Please tell me what else can i do or if you would like me to send you any other test report.

Support contacted me asking to send them ht info printed on the IHS, but as I use Coollaboratory liquid thermal paste all the info was unreadable so i couldn't keep the process. I spoke stright to the seller and after a negotiation I can say it's solved.
